Young Adult Ministry

There many opportunities for Catholic young adults in Palmerston North:

  • Young adult events are held every week after 6pm Mass at the Cathedral – these include
  • Pub Night, where we meet at the Celtic on Broadway for a drink and chat;
  • Discussion Nights, where a guest speaker comes in to talk on a particular topic;
  • Games Nights, usually accompanied by pizza and/or beer; and
  • Prayer Nights, such as praise and worship or adoration

Te Ahi Kaa (‘the Hearth Place’, 25 Amesbury St) is a young adult community house run by Maurice and Meike Davies. Young adults who are interested in living in a Catholic community and who have a particular focus on service and hospitality are able to live here for a year. Expressions of interest can be made to Maurice or Kathleen Field.

Retreats, camps and other events are held regularly throughout the year, both in the Palmerston North Diocese and beyond. These include a Cocktail Party, a Murder Mystery Party, weekend retreats to the Southern Star Abbey at Kopua, Passionist Young Adults retreat, and SetFree Youth Festival. Coming up: (again I’ll check with Maurice for this)
