Ministries – Cathedral

A number of our parishioners take communion to the sick and elderly on a weekly basis. We have the pleasure of visiting with approximately 40 people each week, some in their private homes while others are in various rest homes. This is slightly down from 2017.  The numbers depend on those who recover from their illnesses and others who have gone on to Heaven.

As with all our Ministries, people come and go and some of the special ministers have retired or moved Parish. These pastoral visits are a vital part of our Parish life and community. If you are a Eucharist Minister and would like to assist with this Ministry, please email: office@pncathedral.org.nz

Shining Stars is a pre-school music and social group.  We encourage all mums, dads, grandparents and caregivers to bring their small charges along to enjoy an educational music session.  This will be followed by a morning tea and an opportunity for social interaction, both children and adults.  Several senior members of the parish assist with this, enabling relationships to be established between the young and old.  We would love to see you there.

If you would like to help with the music programme or in the kitchen providing the hospitality, we would love to hear from you.

Come And Meet Each Other has been the invitation each Friday, after Mass, to come together for hospitality, when it was identified that there was a need for people to connect with others.  A small group of volunteers facilitate the gathering, sharing their time and food.

The number of people who have responded to this invitation, is now over 50 on most Fridays. They are mainly from our Parish, but also parishioners from other Parishes, other churches or no church.

If you would like to be involved in C.A.M.E.O., please either call the Parish Office on 06 357 2891 or email office@pncathedral.org.nz

Each Sunday at the 9.30am Mass the Junior Liturgy Team offer catechesis for our little people relating to the readings of the day and using the Children’s lectionary.

At the beginning of the Mass, the children are led out to the Cathedral Lounge where they will listen to the reading of the day, reflect, and enjoy an activity related to that reading.  Some parents choose to attend with their child(ren) while others are comfortable letting their children attend on their own.  The little session is approximately 20 minutes and they return as a group to share the remainder of the Mass with their families.

If you would like to be involved in our Junior Liturgy, please either call the Parish Office on 06 357 2891 or email office@pncathedral.org.nz
