OPENING OF THE CATHEDRAL
With Bishop John’s permission,  the Cathedral is now open, while the office is open, Monday through Friday 9am to 1pm.  We are encouraging all parishioners to pop in during those times and be present.  There are no expectations of greeting people or hosting.  If you have time during your busy week and are in the area, please feel free to spend some time in the Cathedral.  Hopefully, with a presence of parishioners in the Cathedral, the acts of vandalism and bad behaviour will be averted.  Thank you for your continued support – the Parish Team.

Waitangi Day 2024 – Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral at 9am and at Our Lady of Lourdes at 10am                                                           (Please note: There will be no 12.05am Mass at the Cathedral.)
Tuesday, February 6 is our national holiday commemorating the first signings of the Treaty of Waitangi – Te Tiriti o Waitangi, in 1840.
“Because of the Christian involvement in its signing and the Church’s mission to bring about a better world we can mark Waitangi as a significant spiritual event and a time to pray for the land and its peoples. We can give thanks for the gift of being here, ask forgiveness for the wrongs of our history from which some have benefited and some have lost, and re-commit ourselves to work for a more just society.”
Monsignor Gerard Burns homily Waitangi Day 2019.
