Praying the Sunday Gospel is held every Friday in the Cathedral Lounge at 11.00 am. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Please note that due to the scaffolding and roof repairs, there will be no hospitality today, after Mass.

World Mission Sunday – Throughout the World, today, Sunday, 22 October 2023, every Christian is called to bear witness to Christ. Hearts on fire, feet on the move (cf. Lk 24:13-35).  We will have a special collection today and next Sunday, 29 October to support the work of Missio Aotearoa. If you are not part of the Parish Planned Giving programme, there are envelopes in the foyer.

Holy Rosary Celebration
Tuesday, 31 October at 6:30pm, there will be a special gathering at the Cathedral to celebrate the conclusion of Holy Rosary month.  We will celebrate with a procession around the Cathedral while reciting the rosary.  After the procession, there will be a Mass and a potluck dinner.  Please bring a plate to share.  Everyone is most welcome to join us.

Tokelauan Language Week Everybody is invited to begin Tokelauan language week Sunday, 22 October at 9:30am, OLOL Mass where our Tokelauan choir will be singing and there will be a special blessing.

Bereavement Mass – Wednesday, 8 November at 7pm, OLOL.  This is when we gather together to remember our loved ones who have passed, especially those in the last 12 months.  You are welcome to bring along a photo of your loved one to put on the memorial table.  Please bring a plate of food to share for supper afterwards.

Common Grace Aotearoa – 10-12 November at Ngatiawa River Monastery, Kapiti Coast.  A nationwide community of Christians come together to share and pray about causes/campaigns close to our hearts.  Topics planned so far include Faith in government work, Maori language petition, Matike Mai, climate activism and media engagement.  Is this something you might like to come along to?  If so, for more information visit

Volunteers Needed – Are you able to help?  The Cathedral is looking for new people to help with two of our important ministries. We need more volunteers to help clean the Cathedral and to help out with our Children’s Liturgy at 9.30am Mass.  If you feel called to do either of these things, please contact Meg de Joux (Pastoral Assistant) at pastoral.admin@pncathedral.org.nz or phone her on 021 965 974.  “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another” (1 Peter, 4:10)

Our Lady of Lourdes Guild – Next meeting will be on Wednesday, 1 November at 1:30pm.  Housie and organizing for Christmas.  Usual competitions and afternoon tea.

Palmerston North Youth Ministry

Junior Youth Group (Years 6-8 students): Friday, 27 October at 5:30 – 7pm, the Diocesan Centre. Palmy Young Catholics – Mark your diary and remember, all 18-35 yr olds are invited to join us each Sunday, (after the 6pm mass) at 7:15pm in the Cathedral lounge.  It is a great opportunity to meet other like-minded people, form new friendships and get involved.

Palmy Young Catholics are also looking for more people to help participate in providing future hospitality. If you have any suggestions about this, please contact Fr Vijay Dungdung.
