Thank you Our Lady of Lourdes for your support while the Cathedral was closed.  To express our appreciation, the Cathedral will host morning tea Sunday 5 November after 9:30am mass.

World Mission Sunday –  World Mission Sunday is a moment of grace to express solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christ who are living in situations of poverty, violence and oppression. Today, 29 October, we collect the envelopes that were distributed last week after mass.  Everything you give will be donated to Missio Aotearoa, an organization that generates spiritual, material and financial support for those working in mission and Third World territories.  Your donation will help missionaries worldwide continue their work. If you did not receive an envelope and want to help, there are envelopes available in the foyer.

How can we open our Cathedral again safely?  A priority of Bishop John and the team is to get our Cathedral open as soon as possible.  Unfortunately, due to the number of incidents over recent years and the fire this year, we need to ensure that we keep our parish home safe.  It has been decided that we need volunteer ‘vergers’ – someone to welcome parishioners, the Palmerston North community and visitors when the Cathedral is open. We ask parishioners to volunteer for this role.  The open hours of the Cathedral will depend on how many we can get to volunteer.  If you have an hour or two each week, can assist with this or need more information, please contact the parish office (357-2891 or 027-4408544).

Holy Rosary Celebration
Tuesday, 31 October at 6:30pm, there will be a special gathering at the Cathedral to celebrate the conclusion of Holy Rosary month.  We will celebrate with a procession around the Cathedral while reciting the rosary. A Mass and potluck dinner will follow.  Please bring a plate to share.  Everyone is most welcome.

Bereavement Mass – Wednesday, 8 November at 7pm, OLOL.  This is when we gather together to remember our loved ones who have passed, especially those in the last 12 months.  You are welcome to bring along a photo of your loved one to put on the memorial table.  Please bring a plate of food to share for supper afterwards.

Diocesan Library  – There is a plethora of books for Catholic study and reading available for your enjoyment and inspiration in the Diocesan Library.  For your convenience, during the month of November, there will be personnel manning the library on Tuesdays to Fridays 10:30am until 11:45am.  We would be very happy if you were to come and use this time, space and valuable resources.  Please access and check in through the Parish office.

Common Grace Aotearoa – 10-12 November at Ngatiawa River Monastery, Kapiti Coast.  A nationwide community of Christians come together to share and pray about causes/campaigns close to our hearts.  Topics planned so far include Faith in government work, Maori language petition, Matike Mai, climate activism and media engagement.  Is this something you might like to come along to?  If so, for more information visit
